The Cassidy Sweater- Petite Stitchery & Co Pattern Test

This holiday season has been a whirlwind for me. Over tired kids, a husband with the flu, and a ton of patients having surgery before the end of the year. All of this means my house is a disaster, I haven’t had much sleep, and my sewing has pretty much been at a standstill.

Fortunately, there are still a few pattern tests going on behind the scenes, and I was lucky enough to be a part of the Cassidy Sweater. Kelly Stevens (On Wednesday’s We Sew) is back again with Petite Stitchery & Co to bring us a fun and flirty top.

The back of this top (or tunic length of you choose) has a beautiful twist that takes this dolman style top to the next level.

The biggest plus of the back design? It is low enough for a little skin but high enough to cover up your bra line!

The twist is a fairly easy construction with solid directions in the pattern tutorial. The dolman sleeves means less time sewing than with set in sleeves. The front piece is a simple design that pairs well with the back twist.

But wait?!? The top can be worn the other way, too?

I went back and forth during testing trying to decide which way I like it better, and I can’t make up my mind!

The crossover works perfectly in the front as well with just the right amount of coverage.

Here is the back view when the top is reversed.

This fabric is a jersey knit from Fine Fabrics in Atlanta. I’d like to say I purchase fabric with a plan in mind, but that would be a lie. Fortunately, the right fabric always seems to jump out at me from my stash when I start a new project!

So which way do you like the top the best? The twist as designed in the back or reversed?? I plan on solving that question in an upcoming hack blog using the twist on both the front and the back. I can’t wait to see the final results.

Don’t forget to grab your Cassidy Sweater during the release sale. Make sure to check out the Sundance Button Front Skirt too as a part of Kelly’s Winter Collection.

Until next time…sewing and sipping,

Stacey

Hello, I’m about to make this pattern and I’m a bit intimidated. Do you have any recommendations/tips that may help ? I love your make and the other version too. I hope once I make the original version, I can do the hack. Thanks!!
