Linen Loungers: Patterns for Pirates Pattern Release

Yes!  The Linen Loungers from Patterns for Pirates are here.  This was declared the Summer of Wovens by the P4P team, and I am thrilled to have a new shorts pattern to help me through this hot and humid weather here in Tennessee.  This week has brought mid 90’s temperatures and terrible humidity.  So basically I have been living in my new shorts (when I am not working).

But, this pattern is not only a summer staple as it has 5 different lengths, including pant length.

As much as I love knit shorts, it is nice to have a woven pattern for variety in my wardrobe.

This is my cuffed shorts version with the cuffs tacked up.  The waistband is the elastic waistband with the optional topstitching, and the faux fly definitely makes the finish more professional.

It is nice to finally have a pair of shorts that have an inseam that hits me in a good spot and that has room in the backside. I tend to struggle with ready to wear shorts with slat pockets because of my thigh girth pulling the pocket out.  Because of this, I was hesitant to add pockets to my shorts, but I will definitely add pockets to my next pair to give it a go.

This fabric was twill (I think?) from Hobby Lobby’s spring apparel fabric line.  I loved the look of the stripes.  It did take quite a bit of planning to get all of my pieces cut correctly to stripe match.

The shirt is surprisingly from Walmart, and I couldn’t pass it up since it was double brushed poly!!!  I know.  At Walmart?

Next up for me was another pair of the cuffed shorts.  This time, however, I left the cuff down to increase the length of the shorts by about 1.5-2 inches (I probably should have actually measured that).

I paired this one with a Summer Kimono from P4P. Can you tell I hit up Hobby Lobby when they clearanced out their spring fabrics? The lightweight floral has beautiful colors which lead me so to finally making my first kimono!

Again, this has the same options of the faux fly and topstitched elastic waistband.

I really love the finishing touches!

The tutorial recommends topstitching most of the seams as you construct the shorts. In my opinion the topstitching is a must! It creates a much more finished look.

Once again, I love backside coverage on these shorts.

Because I couldn’t decide on the styling for this one, you get a bonus outfit. A curved hemline looks perfect with the silhouette of the shorts.

The Linen Loungers are on sale through Sunday, July 23rd. To make things even better there is a youth version available, too!  Catch the bundle which is only available at release!

Until next time…sewing and sipping,

Stacey
